turritopsis.cloud is the result of the scholarly and artistic pursuits of Helene Romakin and Berit Seidel. Positioned at the intersection of artistic, architectural, art historical, and curatorial research and practice, the project delves into a myriad of experimental and interdisciplinary strategies and methodologies to engage with our environment.

Helene Romakin is a cultural scientist, curator, writer, and editor based in Berlin and Zurich. In her work Romakin focuses on practices of artistic research, situated knowledges, and role of fiction in academic writing. In 2023 she completed her PhD titled “Narrating in the Anthropocene in Art, Architecture, and Film. In the Works by Lara Almarcegui, Andrei Tarkovsky, and Peter Zumthor” under the supervision of Philip Ursprung and Karen van den Berg at the ETH Zurich. Romakin is the co-founder and co-curator of several non-profit art projects. In 2020 she co-founded the collective ~tilde in Zurich, with whom she co-curated the Wind Tunnel Festival, a yearly interdisciplinary festival that aims to bring together artists, scientists, and cultural professionals to discuss, connect and explore new ways of being together. Berit Seidel is an artist, researcher and lecturer at ETH Zurich, ZHdK and at the University of Zurich. Currently she is a PhD Candidate at the University of Arts Linz. Berit is a founding member of the artist collective U5 (www.u5.92u.ch) and has exhibited internationally. U5 addresses properties of collective modes of action and perception in artistic production, in exhibitions as well as within scientific projects and in teaching. U5 actively pursues historical and contemporary approaches to research in art, especially approaches that transcend disciplines and focus on silenced or denied forms of art and knowledge.
